Syrah Wine – The Story
Syrah is a grape that is grown in many areas of France. The grape is also grown in many other areas such as Argentina, Chile and California. In these areas this grape is more often referred to as the Shiraz grape. The Shiraz grape is one of the most popular grapes used for wine making in Australia.
Syrah Wine History
As indicated above, Syrah wine is just a different name for Shiraz wine. Shiraz wine gets its name from the city of Shiraz which is located in Iran. Shiraz, Iran is said to be the birthplace of wine making. In fact it is believed that wine making was started in Shiraz over 7000 years ago.
Often times a cabernet or a merlot grape will be blended with the syrah grape to create a bolder flavored wine. This is often done because the flavors of grapes that are grown in extremely warm climates such as Chile and southern California are not bold enough on their own. Grapes that are grown in cooler climates tend to hold their own.
Pairing for Syrah Wine
Shiraz wine is best paired with meat. Burgers, BBQ ribs, lamb chops and beef stews are a few excellent dishes to make with Syrah wine. The Syrah wine is also very good if paired with venison, veal, beef, pork and duck.

Syrah wine can be purchased from many online retailers by using wine software. If you like to try your wine before you buy it, you might consider going to a wine tasting at a local wine store.
These are often held in the evening or on the weekends, which makes it easy for working adults to attend. To find out when a wine tasting is taking place just call your local wine store. Even if they do not have any wine tastings in the near future, they may be able to point you in the right direction.
Price of Syrah Wine
The Syrah wine price will vary a bit. The standard bottle may cost about $ 40.00, but better-quality wines can cost up to $ 300.00. The most essential thing is to get a wine bottle that fits not only with your taste but also your budget!
